The clock is ticking on municipal and county governments to cope with a significant loss of tax revenue, due to tax cuts starting next year. For those groups, the 2027 budget process starts in June, with ’27 budgets to be passed this fall.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says the tax cutting by the state will make a seven-figure impact on next year’s City budget, Mayor Yochum says one way to make up for the revenue loss is to get a PILOT payment from Vincennes Water Utilities,
Other possible moves include some type of revenue increase to the City’s trash collection system. That can include a raise in trash sticker process, or a change to a flat monthly fee system for trash collection.
