A North Knox School Board agenda items concerning acceptance of bids for a planned demolition of the North Knox East building has been removed. In a revised agenda process, North Knox officials will wait until March to consider the bids for that building’s demolition.
The Edwardport-based building was the first location for North Knox High School from 1963 through the mid-1970’s, when the current building was constructed. After the high school had moved locations, it became an elementary and junior high facility, prior to its complete closure. It has stayed abandoned since the Corporation decided to close the facility.
North Knox Superintendent Darrell Bobe believes it would take what he calls “significant dollars” to refurbish the building.
