Amazon has announced plans to build a new 104,000-square-foot delivery station in the US 41 Industrial Park in Vincennes.
The online retailer says delivery stations power the last mile of Amazon’s order process and help speed up deliveries.
Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighboring Amazon fulfillment and sorting centers, loaded onto delivery vehicles, and delivered to customers.
On average, rural delivery stations generate 170 jobs, along with additional driving positions available through the Delivery Service Partner and Amazon Flex programs.
Launch plans for the Vincennes delivery station, especially those concerning hiring and the start of operations, are in the very early stages.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.
