Plans are underway for a re-trial of Jack Washington, Junior in Knox Circuit Court. A mistrial in the case was declared yesterday. In a written statement, Knox County Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan said the mistrial was due to a juror doing an Internet search on Jack Washington. Carnahan also claims the juror allegedly shared that research information with other jurors.
Washington is charged with rape in the case. Court documents allege Washington had drugged the victim, and then raped her. He has been placed in the Knox County Work-Release Center, while a new trial date is being set. According to Carnahan, the move was over the objection of the County Prosecutor’s office.
At this time, no new trial date has been set.
