Sharron “Walton” Hagemeier, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on February 26, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by her family in Edwardsport, IN. Born on October 20, 1933, in Gibson Co., IN, Sharron’s spirit and loving nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Sharron embraced the joys of family, friendships, and a hearty laugh. She found great pleasure in cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and getting lost in classic TV shows like “Little House on the Prairie” and “Gunsmoke”. A woman who lived through decades of change, she cherished the memories of Chicago in the 1950s and never lost her passion for dancing. Her early workdays at Meramec Caverns paved the way for a dedicated career at Crane, from which she eventually retired, allowing her more time to indulge in her favorite pastimes, including many card games; yet nothing matched her skill at Solitaire.
Known to her family as the best meatball maker around, she took immense pride not only in her cooking but also in maintaining her beautiful home, complete with a two-car garage—a true testament to her hard work and strength.
Her membership at the Edwardport American Legion reflected her community spirit and commitment to connection, mirroring the love and care she invested in her own family. Sharron is survived by her daughter, Kimberly ‘Anniker’ Robbins (Jerry) of Edwardsport, IN; her grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Robbins (Kassie Robbins), and Devon ‘Honey Pot’ Robbins (Kirsten ‘Chatty’ Robbins); great-grandchildren Paxton Josephine, Lincoln Michael, and the eagerly anticipated Baby Robbins; her brother, Victor McNew; extended family Larry, Brooke, and Kendall Johnson; several nieces and nephews; and her loyal cat, Nub, who provided comfort and companionship in her later years.
Preceding Sharron in passing were her parents, Chester and Sarah E. “Barnes” McNew, her siblings Don McNew, Allen McNew, and John McNew, and her dear son, Norman Wayne, who she now joins in peaceful rest.
Sharron Hagemeier will be profoundly missed, yet her legacy will thrive in those who were fortunate enough to be called her family. As we say farewell, we honor a life well-lived—a life that embodied the true meaning of loving and being loved.
A graveside service will be held on March 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Cemetery in Westphalia, IN, officiated by Pastor John Moreland. Memorial donations may be made to the Vincennes Pet Port.
