Alice L. Sanders, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 7, 2026, in her hometown of Vincennes, IN, where she was born on March 16, 1959. Alice’s life was marked by devotion to her family, her work, and her many interests that brought joy not only to her but to all who knew her.
Graduating from Lincoln High School, class of 1977, and continuing her education in college, Alice built a life filled with learning, love, and service. She worked diligently as a Unit Clerk at Good Samaritan Hospital for two decades, a role in which she impacted countless lives with her kindness and meticulous care for patients and colleagues alike.
Family was the centerpiece of Alice’s world. She married her beloved husband, Charles “Chuck” Sanders, in a heartwarming ceremony on December 16, 1979, in Vincennes, IN. Their union was blessed with two sons, Brian Sanders (Michelle) of Bridgeport, IL, and Brandon Sanders (Michelle) of Newburgh, IN. Alice’s unwavering love extended to her five grandchildren, Alexus, Emma, Logan, Sadie, and Allison, and she reveled in the joy of her two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Jackson. Also cherishing her memory are her sisters-in-law, Marcella (Ed) Walker and Mary Turney, as well as several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Alice’s life was preceded by the passing of her husband, Chuck, her parents, Gerald “Jack” and Ruth “Patterson” Godfrey, her sister, Rebecca Goodson, and her sister-in-law, Patty Frye. Their memories remained a guiding light and source of comfort throughout her life.
A lover of literature and the simple pleasures in life, Alice found solace in the pages of John Grisham novels and the warm, familiar narratives of Hallmark Movies, never changing the channel. Alice was an avid dog lover, cherishing her time with many canine companions. Times spent getting her nails done served as a cherished ritual, a moment of relaxation and self-care in her busy life. Above all, Alice loved to spend time with her family, cherishing the many moments of joy.
With a heart as expansive as her smile, Alice’s influence lingers in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love she bestowed. Alice L. Sanders will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a pillar of love, strength, and compassion.
