Ronald Edward Adcock, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Vincennes, Indiana, age 85. He was born to the late Charles E. and Leona M. “Ernest” Adcock on January 19, 1941, in Bakersfield, California, and from his early years, he demonstrated a profound dedication to his family, work, and community.
Ron’s journey in life was marked by the loving companionship of his wife, Evalyn “Hooppaw” Adcock, whom he married in Fontana, California, on June 4, 1960. Together, they built a life full of affection and shared endeavors.
A man of many talents, Ron excelled as a carpenter, a trade that allowed him to express his artistic side while providing for his family. He found great joy in building and renovating, lending his skilled hands to shape wood into structures and memories. His creativity was not only confined to his professional life but also spilled into his personal passions, always having an ongoing project where he could improve his skills and bring joy to those around him.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman who had a deep love for scuba diving and camping in the mountains’ serene embrace. He cherished the opportunity to explore and enjoy the natural world. His adventurous spirit was a trait he eagerly shared with his family, especially when taking his sons and grandsons on target shooting outings and trips to Canada, strengthening their close bond.
Above all, Ron treasured the moments spent with his “Sugarbabe”, Evalyn, and his family. He leaves behind his children, Ed (RoseMarie) Adcock, Truman (Sarah) Adcock, Yvonne (Jim) Porter, Leona Bright, Rhonda (Thom) Showers, and Carol Hooppaw, his two great nieces, and a quiver full of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ron reunited in peace with his parents and his son-in-law, Joseph Bright, leaving behind a family grateful for his enduring presence.
Ron was always present in the community, taking pride as a proud member of the N.R.A. and serving faithfully as an ordained elder and church board member. His involvement impacted many and spoke volumes about his faith in Jesus Christ and the blessings of those around him.
Ronald Edward Adcock will be remembered for his unwavering love, enduring wisdom, and the genuine kindness with which he graced this world. His was a life well-lived, full of purpose and imbued with a spirit that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have shared a part of his journey.
There will be a celebration of life on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Peoples Church, 6644 N 1000 W Rd, Bourbonnais, IL, 60914, officiated by Pastor Harry Schmidt and Rev.
