Kathryn “Hartley” Shots, age 83, a cherished wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother, passed away in her hometown of Vincennes, IN, on March 19, 2026. Born on October 9, 1942, in Knox Co., IN, Kathryn lived a full and warm life, leaving behind a legacy of joyfulness and compassion.
Kathryn married her lifelong companion, Randall Shots, on October 5, 1960, and together they built a life rich with shared experiences and devotion. Her family was at the heart of everything she did, and she was a pillar of support and love for them all. Kathryn’s enduring spirit lives on through her husband, Randall; her daughter, Diane Weiss; her six grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; and her four great-great-grandchildren, who will forever treasure the precious memories crafted with her.
A testament to living for others, Kathryn embraced creating nourishing experiences for others during her time working in the kitchen of the Executive Inn in Vincennes, where her warm hospitality was felt by many.
Her personal interests filled her life and her adventurous soul. Kathryn relished the time spent camping and embarked on numerous travel adventures, each becoming a storied chapter in her book of life’s greatest joys.
Kathryn was preceded by her son, Randall Alan Shots, her parents, Ellis and Zella Hartley, her two sisters, and her three brothers, each of whom left this world too soon, but lived on in her stories and in the lessons they imparted.
To have known Kathryn was to know love, commitment, and the sweet tenderness of a life well-lived. As her family and friends gather to share the stories, we celebrate a life that was as much a gift to us as it was a testament to the woman who was well known for her kindness and generous spirit. Kathryn “Hartley” Shots will be deeply missed, and her memory will continue to light the way for the lives she touched.
