Louise “Wagler” Hunter, age 76, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on March 27, 2026, in Evansville, IN. She was born on October 11, 1949, in Washington, Indiana, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, steady work, and the simple joys that brought her happiness each day.
Louise attended school and carried the values of hard work and perseverance throughout her life. On May 22, 1975, she married the love of her life, Michael Hunter, and together they built a home centered on love, family, and commitment. Their marriage was a lasting partnership, and Louise treasured the four decades they shared.
She was employed at Daviess Community Hospital for 30 years, working in the radiology and physical therapy departments. Louise was known for her dependable nature, her kind spirit, and the care she showed to those around her. Her years of service reflected the quiet strength and dedication that defined her life.
Louise found great joy in gardening and in following NASCAR. She especially loved spending time with her family, and her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. Her happiest moments were often the simplest ones, surrounded by the people she loved most.
She is survived by her children, Betty Mae Hunter-Haas of Washington, IN, and Ronald Hunter (Michelle) of Panama City Beach, FL; her six grandchildren, Hunter Haas, Justin Haas, Gracie Haas, Ashley Kohlhouse (Jordan), Nicole Hunter-Williams, and Colton Hunter (Casey); and her seven great-grandchildren, Haley Kohlhouse, Aaliya Kohlhouse, Carson Kohlhouse, Layla Kohlhouse, Aiden Hunter, Jada Williams, and Jazlyn Williams. She is also survived by her sisters, Marilyn Wagler, Ruth Wagler, Fannie Knepp, Ester Graber, and Lydia Ann Swartz, as well as her best friend, Imogene Lechner, and her sons, Brian Lechner, Jeff Lechner, Troy Lechner, and Darrell Lechner.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Hunter; her parents, Fred and Adel “Graber” Wagler; her brother, Amos Wagler; and her sisters, Rosa Raber and Katie Lengacher. Her family and friends will remember her with love and gratitude for the many ways she enriched their lives. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
