Oakland City University has notified the state it could conduct a mass layoff at the facility on June 1st.
In a WARN Notice filed with the state, the university says a sixty-day notification was given to workers on Wednesday, with the estimated first date of separation being June 1st.
There are 110 full-time employees and 57 adjunct and part-time employees affected by the mass layoff.
The university says the layoff may become permanent. However, in a letter released on the University’s Facebook page, they say although financial conditions are not ideal, they plan to be open again for classes in the fall semester.
