Virginia “Moore” Burger, age 83, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Evansville, Indiana. Born on December 29, 1942, in Washington, Indiana, Virginia, lived a life defined by quiet strength, deep compassion, and a kindness that left a lasting imprint on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Virginia was the heart of her family—a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a loyal sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her beloved husband, Raymond Burger; her son, Sean Burger; her cherished grandchildren, Haley Burger and Lexxine Burger; and her great-grandson, Jameson Burger, who brought her great joy. She also leaves behind her sister, Christine Stubburg, along with many cousins and dear friends, including Regina Chaney and Brad Purcell, Wilmer and Lydia Mae Wagler and Family, as well as countless others whose lives she touched with her warmth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Wayne and Naomi Nina “Ricks.” Moore, her grandson, Blake Burger, and her siblings, Cheryl Lamb and Donnie Moore Jr., each of whom she carried in her heart always.
Virginia earned her Associate’s Medical Degree in Radiology in Louisville and dedicated many years to her work as a radiology technician. She approached her career with quiet pride, compassion, and a steady professionalism that reflected who she was at her core. Beyond her work, she found a deep sense of belonging and faith within her church community at First Christian Church.
To know Virginia was to know gentleness. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. She loved deeply and sincerely, finding her greatest happiness in the company of family and friends. She delighted in life’s simple joys—browsing Tuesday Morning with friends, creating beautiful handmade cards, and spending hours crafting with love in every detail.
Virginia’s kindness extended far beyond people. She had a tender heart for all living things, rescuing and caring for animals others might overlook—even spiders. She once lovingly nursed a canary named Bubble back to health, and it rewarded her with daily songs. She found joy in feeding the crows and treasured the companionship of her beloved cats, Bob, Ted, and BJ. Her love for yellow, sunflowers, and hummingbirds reflected the brightness she carried within her.
She was known for her forgiving nature—never holding onto anger for long—and for her generous spirit. Whether it was simply offering a listening ear, Virginia gave freely of her time and love without ever expecting anything in return.
Virginia Burger will be remembered as a gentle soul with a beautiful heart. Her love was steady, her presence comforting, and her spirit uplifting. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched and in the love she gave so freely.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel Church South in Washington, Indiana, officiated by Pastor Brad Rainey.
