Dronda Sue “Peach” Coomes, age 64, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away on April 11, 2026, in her hometown. She was born on August 17, 1961, in Vincennes, Indiana, and lived her life with a warm heart, a strong spirit, and a deep devotion to the people and things she loved most.
Dronda attended high school and spent her life as a homemaker, where she poured her care and attention into her family and home. She was known for her kind nature, her steady presence, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. Her family was the center of her world, and she found great joy in being surrounded by the people she cherished.
She is survived by her children, LaTosha Rice (Kenneth) of Vincennes, Indiana, and Kaylie Aker of Evansville, Indiana. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren, Shania Payton (Christian), Robbie Dunham, Evan Dunham, Khia Aker, and Ah’Ray Aker, as well as her three great-grandchildren, October Payton, Akito Payton, and Novella Payton. Her family brought her great pride and happiness, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Dronda was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Leon and Laura Mae “Smith” Peach, her daughter, Kristina Peach, and her grandson, Dre’Shawn Witteried. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life, and she carried their love with her always.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful to her. Dronda loved her family dearly, was an avid bingo player, and had a special fondness for NASCAR. She also loved her animals and found comfort and companionship in their presence.
Dronda Sue “Peach” Coomes will be remembered for her love of family, her gentle heart, and the many ways she touched the lives of others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.
