Mary Jane Smith, 86, of Bicknell, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026. She was born on November 10, 1939, and lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to her family.
Mary Jane retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections, where she worked in the Chaplain’s office. Her strong faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she carried it with quiet strength and grace in all she did. She had a deep and abiding love for her family, cherishing each and every one of them.
She had a spirited personality and a sense of humor that those who knew her will never forget—especially when it came to her firm belief that no one could drive quite as well as she could. Mary Jane also had a love for music and could often be found dancing, bringing joy and energy into any room she entered.
She is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Gilbert (Alan) and Anita “Darlene” Miller (Dennis); her daughters, Angela Grigsby (Tim) and Amy Deckard (Mark); her granddaughters, Amanda Davidson and Chelsea Summers (Jason); her great-grandchildren, Alison Keller (Layton), Molly McGuyer, and Gunner Pirtle; and her great-great-granddaughter, Evangelina Harpe. Her legacy of love lives on through each of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Trula “Pickett” Gee; her brother, Robert Gee; her first husband and the father of her daughters, William Bricker; her infant daughter, Shelley Bricker; her granddaughter, Alicia Davidson; and her husband of 30 years, David Smith.
In accordance with Mary Jane’s wishes, no services will be held.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
