Vincennes City officials have responded to a weekend boil order for what was reported to be a high level of E-Coli in some water samples. The test result resulted in a boil order from Friday into Saturday. That was in place for both Vincennes and Knox County Water customers, since they both use the water drawn by Vincennes Water Utilities.
Vincennes Water Utilities general manager Kirk Bouchie thought from the beginning that the samples were tested in error. The original timeline to get the new samples back was on Tuesday, meaning a boil order was to be in place until then. However Bouchie and their testing center—Pace Labs in Farmersburg—did extra work to get the samples done as soon as possible.
Following confirmation of the negative tests, the boil order was lifted immediately. Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum praised Vincennes Water Utilities for their extra-mile work to ensure the safety of Vincennes’ water.
