Some Knox County voters will be balloting in some higher-profile races for the Statehouse today.
In State Senate District 39, it is a three way battle between Tanner Bouchie, Kristi Risk, and Jeff Ellington. All three have been active—especially on social media—advertising their campaigns. The winner faces Joseph Baughman; he is running unopposed on the Democrat side.
In State Senate District 45, it is a rematch between Bruce Borders and Kellie Streeter. Borders narrowly defeated Streeter two years ago; the two have also run high-profile campaigns so far this year. The third candidate in the race is Becky Mayfield.
Four Democrats are running for their nomination in the 8th District U-S House race. Mary Allen, Mario Foradori, Christopher Rector, and Tabitha Ziegler are all vying for a chance to compete against incumbent Mark Messmer in November. The Republican Messmer is running unopposed today.
