Tommy “Tom” Cazzell, age 78, of Bicknell, Indiana, passed away on June 18, 2026, at his home. He was born on June 10, 1948, in Phoenix, Arizona, and lived a life marked by hard work and devotion to family.
Tom served in the United States Army. He remained proud of his service and of the values he upheld. After his military service, he worked as a mechanic for Amax Coal Company until his retirement, where his skills and determination were evident to all who knew him.
On May 2, 1970, Tom married the love of his life, Neva “Swan” Cazzell, in Bicknell, Indiana. Their marriage was a lasting partnership built on love, loyalty, and shared memories over many years. Together, they created a family that was central to Tom’s life and brought him great joy and pride.
Tom enjoyed woodworking and working on cars, hobbies that suited his hands-on spirit and his appreciation for craftsmanship. He found satisfaction in creating and repairing, and he took pride in doing things well. He was also a member of the Bicknell French Club, the VFW, and the UMWA, associations that reflected both his community ties and his lifelong commitment to fellowship and service.
Those left to cherish Tom’s memory include his wife, Neva Cazzell; his children, Tammy Thomas and Thomas “Tommy” Cazzell (Jamie); his three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Thomas of Evansville, Indiana, and Avery and Dalton Cazzell of Garland, Utah; and his cat, Buddy. He also leaves behind many memories that will continue to be treasured by those who knew and loved him.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Cazzell and Mary “Wallace” Langdon; his siblings, David Cazzell and Leslie Diane Cazzell; and his in-laws, Harry and Rose “Goscinski” Swan. Their memory, along with Tom’s, will remain a part of the family’s story and legacy.
He will be remembered for his love of family and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. Tom leaves behind a legacy of devotion, resilience, and kindness that will not be forgotten by those fortunate enough to have known him.
There will be a memorial visitation held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Bicknell Chapel. A service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
