Around Knox County:
In Volleyball:
The South Knox Lady Spartans won in 3 games over Robinson 25-15, 25-23, and 25-25. The Lady Spartans were led by six kills each from Janet West and Natalie West, along with 11 service points from Makayla Carie.
The North Knox Warriors lost in three sets to Northeast Dubois. The Lady Jeeps took the match 25-14, 25-8, and 25-12. Jersey Sturgeon had 23 digs in the game, while Baylee McCoy tallied seven kills, with six from Kendal McGuire.
In Soccer:
The Rivet Patriots boys and girls’soccer teams were both in action. The Rivet boys defeated Mitchell to move their record to 3-1, while The Rivet girls were shut out, 4-0, by Barr-Reeve. They are now 2-2-1.
The South Knox Spartans tied with Mater Dei 2-2. The game was called after a storm hit the field with less than 20 minutes to go. Joseph Ellerman scored one goal on a free kick from near the center line; the other goal came from Levi Loudermilk to give the Spartans a 2-1 advantage. The Wildcats then tied in before the weather ended it. The Spartans are 1-1-2 on the year.
In Tennis:
The Vincennes Lincoln Alices fell 5-0 to Barr-Reeve.
In Middle School sports:
The Clark Middle School 7th grade varsity volleyball team lost in three sets to Jasper’s Holy Trinity. The two split the first two sets, before Holy Trinity took the final set, 15-13.
