School is a week away from starting– and law enforcement officials remind everyone to watch for school buses. Drivers are reminded to watch out for kids getting on and off buses weekday mornings and aftenroons.
Knox County Sheriff’s Major Mike Fisher reminds everyone it isn’t just young kids may be inexperienced in back to school transportation– it can also be new drivers heading to school. Fisher also warns everyone on all except for opposite lanes of four-lane divided highways, when the school bus stop arm comes out, traffic stops.
In Knox County, drivers are reminded there are no bus stops on four-lane divided highways. Further, both the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and Vincennes City Police will watch for stop-arm violators. Finally, in the North Knox area, license plate cameras will be activated to fine and summons drivers who violate the school bus stop arm law.
