The Knox County Commissioners have granted a time extension for the Ratts 2 or Blue Jeans– solar facility in southern Knox County. The proposed solar farm is planned for construction near State Road 61 just north of the White River. The time grant gives the group another two years to start work on the plant. The Ratts 2 subdivision is now looking at a 2026 time frame for operation. Supply chain issues and tariff problems are being blamed for the delay.
Nikki Jeffers represented the group behind building the Blue Jeans solar area. She says the key now is getting their lease partners to continue their agreements. Jeffers knows their job now is the individually speak with each landowner about extending the leases.
Even though the Ratts 2 project faces a two-year delay, the Ratts 1 project is not. The first solar farm project in Pike County is set to break ground later this month.
