A second person has been arrested in the 2012 murder of Lowell Badger. Badger was killed at his home south of Carlisle in extreme southern Sullivan County.
A warrant was issued Tuesday for 39 year-old Richard D. Taft. The Sullivan Superior Court document was served to Taft during his incarceration at the Michigan City Correctional Facility. Taft is charged with murder and two counts of burglary resulting in bodily injury; at this time, he is still being housed in the Michigan City prison facility. He was in prison on earlier convictions, including two charges of meth dealing; he was also arrested in those charges for being a habitual offender.
He joins William Ray Grimes as being charged in the case; Grimes was arrested in April on charges of murder, burglary, and conspiracy to commit burglary. Grimes was charged following deliberation by a Sullivan County grand jury.
