The Vincennes City Council voted down a pending ordinance to ban water wells in areas of the City affected by an environmental cleanup.
The Vincennes City Council Public Works committee brought the ordinance up to the full Council with a unanimous unfavorable recommendation. City Council president Brian Grove says one reason why is a lack of effective enforcement. Grove also says Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum is strongly against the ban.
The issue is an environmental cleanup of the area near the former Fields’ Cleaners on Washington Avenue.
