The office of Congresswoman Victoria Spartz has released a statement on her arrest on weapons charges at a D.C. airport on Friday.
Spartz was found to be in possession of a .38 caliber firearm as she was going through passenger screening at Dulles International Airport. It’s illegal to carry a gun onto a plane.
On Monday, her office said, “Spartz accidentally carried an empty handgun in her suitcase with no magazine or bullets, which she did not realize was in the pocket of her suitcase.”
The gun was empty, and Spartz did not have any magazines or bullets in the bag with the gun.
