Work continues on the bridge on Oaktown Road in Northern Knox County. According to Knox County Highway Department Superintendent Benji Boyd, he expects the bridge work to continue on that span thru early September.
Also at the meeting, Boyd talked about the Old US-41 Overpass over the CSX Railroad Tracks south of Oaktown. Boyd mentioned that due to the fact that CSX will not allow MSE Walls on their right of away, the county will have to move those down the span, making the project most likely a little more expensive.
Finally, Boyd mentioned that he had applied for a grant to have Old US-50 paved on the way out to New-50. Officials say that that portion of roadway has not been paved in decades.
