Terre Haute Police are warning the public about a phone scam.
The department says it took a report Tuesday that a Hispanic male is calling from a Terre Haute Police Department number saying he is a detective.
He accuses people of a forced child labor crime and says if $3,500 is paid, the victim would not press charges.
Police say they will never call or ask for money to dismiss charges.
