Dr. Alan Stewart during several meetings this week has mentioned that the COVID-19 test return time table has been lately running 5-7 days. Stewart believes that the delay is due to the amount of testing that is taking place involved with the lab the Knox County Health Department uses.
Earlier in the pandemic, Stewart said that the COVID-19 test turnaround time was around 48 hours. Stewart also mentioned that a Dr. Thompson out of Monroe City was using a different testing service than the county and receiving quicker results, but since has ran into the same issue of the long wait time for tests to return.
