More than 40,000 Hoosier doctors and nurses have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The Indiana Department of Health says the expectation is that number will rise to 100,000 in the next few weeks.

Dr. Lindsay Weaver with the department says there are nearly 600,000 healthcare workers in Indiana, and they will need to be vaccinated before anyone else.

Frontline workers at hospitals have first dibs on coronavirus vaccines. Employees at pharmaceutical companies like Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis are next on that list of people who will be eligible for the next round of doses.

CEO David Ricks tells CBS’s Face The Nation that they are not mandating that Lilly employees get vaccinated. Lilly does not have a vaccine of its own. Instead it has focused its efforts on treatment of people who have the virus with an antibody drug.
