Another southern Indiana elected official is leaving the Democratic Party. Evansville City Councilman Jonathan Weaver over the weekend became a Republican. He’s not offering a specific reason, but says his relationship with Democrats on Evansville’s city council is not the reason why he switched parties. Weaver is the latest southern Indiana Democrat to leave the party. Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding and Posey County Sheriff Tom Latham both became Republicans last year.
