Power Grid — Winter Season

Indiana’s power grid can withstand the winter season. But, the worry from some experts is that it may not be able to withstand an extreme winter storm like the one that hit Texas back in February of this year.

A report from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, or NERC, says most of Indiana’s electrical generation comes from natural gas. If natural gas supplies were to suddenly be cut off because of a bad winter storm, the report says black out could plague many areas of the state.

Experts are advising the state to shore itself up ahead of the peak winter season.
