Fraud Charges for Evansville Hotel Worker In Credit Card Scheme

An order for Chinese food could mean jail time for a former hotel clerk in Evansville.

Police there arrested Jupheena Padgett earlier this week.

They say she stole people’s credit card information and used it to pay her bills.

The owner of the Comfort Inn in Evansville, where she worked, tipped police to Padgett after a customer complained about a charge for Chinese food on their credit card.

He remembered Padgett ordered from the same restaurant on the day of the complaint.

All told, investigators say Padgett stole nearly $3700 from nine different people.
