CenterPoint Energy says reports of individuals impersonating CenterPoint Energy — both over the phone with spoofed numbers and in-person — are on the rise.
The utility says it will never call and demand payment to avoid immediate disconnection and never ask customers to make payments with a pre-paid debit card, gift card, any form of cryptocurrency, or third-party digital payment mobile applications.
