New Trooper Coming to ISP Evansville Post

The Indiana State Police Post in Evansville is welcoming a Petersburg native to its ranks. Trooper Gage Cummings recently graduated from the 83rd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy after completing 23 weeks of training. Cummings is a native of Petersburg and a 2019 graduate of Pike Central High school.

He later graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate Degree in Manufacturing Technology.

Cummings served as a correctional officer with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office between July 2020 and the time he was hired by the Indiana State Police.

He will now begin his next phase of instruction, a three-month field training period with veteran troopers.  Upon successfully completing field training, Cummings will be assigned a patrol car and begin solo patrol primarily in Gibson County.
