Members of the Wabash Valley Progressives and others joined together yesterday to dedicate Vincennes’ newest park.  The land, now known as Minooteeni Park is next to the Tecumseh wood carving at the Hart Street end of the Riverwalk downtown.
Will Drews, with Wabash Valley Progressives, headed up the park project.  Drews gives the park’s purpose as raising awareness of Native Americans who first occupied this area.
The park area includes various features to enhance the role of Native Americans in this area.  The ceremony included speeches from representatives of the tribes that used to live in this area, along with the burying of a time capsule on the site.
