A proposed bill is designed to prevent families in Illinois from receiving the wrong remains of their loved ones.
The state Senate approved a measure this week that would require all funeral and crematory establishments in Illinois to include chain of custody records and start implementing a system to track uniquely identified remains.
The legislation now heads to the house.
