River levels will crest on area rivers this week.
The first to crest will be today on the White River at Edwardsport, at nearly four feet over flood stage. Also, the Embarras at Lawrenceville will top out at its 30 foot flood stage today. The White River at Petersburg will be four and a half feet over flood stage starting Wednesday.
The Wabash at Vincennes is now at a foot and a half over flood, and will stay at that height through Friday. Downriver at Mount Carmel, flood waters will reach three feet over flood stage on Wednesday.
Drivers are reminded to avoid driving across flooded roads. Also, those living in low-lying areas should watch for high water around their homes or property.
