Good Samaritan Hospitl officials have repurposed a former Health Department location in to a specialty pharmacy.
Yesterday, Hospital officials opened the new department at the old Knox County Health Department location at 305 South Fifth Street. The building became vacant, when the Health Department moved to the Bierhaus Building on Second Street.
The Specialty Pharmacy will provide medications that may be costly and have limited distribution, or other specialized monitoring or patient education. Hospital officials believe the move will keep down delays and other inconveniences from getting the medication from distant pharmacies.
