The Indiana Department of Transportation is planng a second “road diet” project, to slim down part of Willow Street. The four lane section from just west of U-S 41 to 13th Street will reduced from four lanes to two, with a middle turn lane.
Even though the work will affect a state road, the City of Vincennes will be affected. It will be similar to a City-based project this year on Hart Street. Vincennes City Council president Brian Grove owns a business along Hart Street; he says the “road diet” is working there.
Grove says nearly the entire four-lane part of Willow Street will be reduced in INDOT’s work.
Along with the “road diet,” INDOT crews will pave the entire length of State Road 441 from U-S 41 to the Memorial Bridge. The contract is set for letting in February of next year, with work to begin in the 2025 construction season.
