Indiana Governor Mike Braun is telling the U.S. Forest Service to “immediately withdraw” a plan to log and burn nearly 20-thousand acres of the Hoosier National Forest. The Hoosier National Forest covers a wide area of south-central and southwest Indiana.
Braun sent a letter to USFS Chief Randy Moore this month, noting the plan could threaten drinking water for over 100-thousand Indiana residents. He also says there has been increasing pushback from Hoosiers. A final determination on the plan to log five-thousand-acres and burn 15-thousand of the national forest is still pending.
