Kids’ Survey Shows Indiana’s Child and Youth Health is Slipping

      Hoosier kids’ health is slipping, though some areas show progress.
      The Indiana Youth Institute’s latest KIDS COUNT Data Book ranks Indiana 32nd in the country for children’s health, dropping from the last report.
      Mental health remains a key issue—30% of teens said they felt so sad or hopeless they stopped doing usual activities, and 14% said they seriously considered suicide.
      The report also flags challenges with access to healthcare, childhood obesity, and food insecurity, though some programs are working to turn things around.
