Many municipal leaders and other property tax-funded groups are coming out against the bill. The main argument is, as the bill is currently worded, the cuts aren’t offset by enough funding to properly maintain government operations.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum has been an outspoken critic of the bill as it stands now. The Mayor is seeking discussions with area state legislators to illustrate his opposition with Senate Bill 1.
At this time, Mayor Yochum estimates the City would lose over two million dollars in revenue, if the bill passes as written.
