Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum is set to meet with 64th District State Representative Matt Hostettler today to discuss a pending property tax cut bill. Senate Bill 1 would lower property taxes statewide, but could affect municipal taxing units across Indiana.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum wants a balance between cutting property taxes, and funding various taxpayer-funded government groups. Mayor Yochum says he is ready to lay the City’s budget on the line in today’s meeting with this area’s State Representative.
The property tax cut bill is currently being considered in the Indiana House Ways and Means Committee. A final proposal could be vetoed by Governor Braun, if it doesn’t meet his plan closely enough.
