Stirs of hope are in the Knox County Sheriff/s Department, after cleanup has begun on the ground of the former Southwest Indiana Regional Youth Village. The former juvenile detention center has sat vacant in recent years, after it was de-commissioned as a juvenile facility.
Knox County Sheriff Doug Vantlin sees the movement as a positive step. Sheriff Vantlin knows since the last use of the facility, transporting juveniles has cost the County a lot of time and money.
No official word has come out yet about any future plans for the property just south of Vincennes.
