Development is the name of the game right now for Vincennes, with various retail and residential projects underway. Among the latest is a downtown demolition for a new Dunkin’ Donuts, and some possible retail in the Kimmel Crossing area.
Two apartment complexes are also either under construction, or under consideration. The 240-unit Bierhaus Flats project is going strong, and Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum also reports progress toward Firehouse Flats downtown. The original location for that is at the Fireman’s Park near Third and Vigo. Mayor Yochum believes downtown apartments could spur more business in that area.
The residential movement is part of a plan to allow more people who commute to Vincennes to live in the same city where they work.
