Vincennes Community Schools officials have approved its tentative budget for 2026. The new budget totals just over 44 million dollars—over three million over last year’s proposed budget. The current year actual budget came in about 4.3 million dollars below the 2026 proposal.
Of the proposal for next year, over half—24.8 million dollars—is in the Education fund. That is entirely funded by the State of Indiana. The biggest jump—of just under two-million dollars—is in the Operations fund.
The final advertised property tax assessment is at a dollar 37 cents per hundred in assessed property value. However, that is expected to be reduced when state officials review the final numbers. The final number is expected to be somewhere near the 2025 actual assessment of nearly 91 and a half cents per hundred.
The Vincennes School Board approved the proposed budget unanimously.
