Knox County Health Department director Alan Stewart updated Vincennes City Council on the state of Knox County’s health. That was part of Monday’s Council session at City Hall.
Dr. Stewart reports a statistic that shows Indiana is well behind other states in spending for public health. Stewart also ties that in part with a lower life expectancy across the county, state, and nation.
Stewart also reported due to a drastic cut in state funding, no new health programs will be put in place. However, he hopes programs already in place now can stay functional, despite the budget cuts.
