Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum signed a sister cities agreement this morning with Mayor Ivan Korud (COH-rood) of Ovruch, Ukraine. The two sides signed the sister city pact as part of a teleconference between the two cities.
The agreement is meant to strengthen Vincennes’ international ties; Mayor Yochum says the sister-city ties are more than just governmental– it also includes schools and public service departments.
Ukrainian students are also sending a token of friendship to Vincennes as part of the new agreement. For his part, Mayor Yochum says he is “proud”” to join in the pact with Ovruch, Ukraine.
