Vincennes City street crews will start their leaf collection duties on Monday of next week. Crews plan to collect the leaves over at least four weeks—from mid-November to mid-December.
Among those recommending residents to pile leaves for collection is Vincennes Water Utilities general manager Kirk Bouchie. For his part, he feels the few leaves means fewer clogged stormwater drains. Backed-up water from clogged inlets can cause significant ponding of water in City intersections. Bouchie is asking for City citizens to do their diligence in raking leaves for collection this year.
Anyone leaving leaf piles for collection are reminded not to mix limbs in with the leaves. Collection crews will not pick up any piles of leaves with limbs mixed in.
