The City of Vincennes, along with other Indiana municipal areas, are looking at drastic revenue cuts in 2027, due to a recently-passed property tax cut. The cut means relief to many, but could mean large cutbacks for Indiana’s cities and towns. The other issue the City, and also Knox County, face is the possible start of a wheel tax to ensure consistent state road repair funding. Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says another new state law favors that funding to places with a wheel tax in place.
Those without a wheel tax will be placed in a pool to get whatever road repair funds remain after the preferred funding is paid out.
