Richard H. “Dick” Biggs, age 84, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025. He will be remembered with deep love and gratitude by all who knew him. Richard lived a long and meaningful life, marked by quiet strength, generosity, and a steady kindness that touched family, friends, and the communities he lived in.
Richard was born in Vincennes on September 30, 1941. His childhood was filled with a rich love for his parents and siblings. Richard went on to earn both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Purdue University, achievements that guided his lifelong dedication to education and service. He proudly served as a Purdue University Extension Educator for 32 years, working across Indiana as Assistant County Agent in Gibson County, Extension Youth Agent in Vigo County, and Extension Agent Educator in Posey County. Throughout his career, he influenced countless individuals and families, offering guidance, support, and an unwavering commitment to his profession.
He was also an active and engaged member of his community. Richard was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Mt. Vernon Chamber of Commerce, Purdue Ag Alumni, John Purdue Club, 4-H, and the Knights of Columbus, contributing his time and leadership to organizations that reflected his values of service and fellowship. Richard had a deep love for farming and spent many years working alongside his brother, Bob, at the Biggs family farm.
Richard is survived by his wife, Virginia “Jenny” (Fredrick) Biggs; his son, Chad (Chastity) Nisbeth; stepson Matthew (Jennifer) Fredrick, stepdaughter, Danielle (Scott) Linnwebber; his grandchildren, Kennedy and Kaylee Nisbeth, Colin,Brynn, Rylann Fredrick, Meredith Wheeler, AubreyAnna Steiner, Elliott Linnwebber, Bryant, Olivia, Sierra, and James Cockrum; his brothers, Don Biggs and Jerry Biggs; and his sister, Rita (Biggs) Lavely.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda C. Biggs; his parents, Emmett and Helen (Keller) Biggs; and his brothers Robert, Ralph, and Norman Biggs; sister-in-laws Marie, Doris, and Jean Biggs.
Visitation will be held at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church Street, Vincennes, Indiana, on Tuesday, December 16, from 4:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Tony Ernst officiating, 1837 S. Hart Street, Vincennes, Indiana, on Wednesday, December 17, at 10:00 A.M. Burial following at St. Vincent Cemetery.
Though his absence is felt profoundly, the many moments shared with Richard—his wisdom and his gentle presence—remain a lasting comfort to his family and friends.
