Five more area non-profit groups have received grant funding from the WIN Energy Operation Round-Up program. The funds come from the extra money the utility receives when its customers round up their electric bills each month.
Three of the five getting funds are from Knox County. They include 24-hundred dollasr to Helping His Hands; 24 hundred to Heart to Heart Ministries; and nearly 15-hundred dollars to Life After Meth. In addition, two-thousand dollars is headed to Pike County Christian Assistance, with the largest award—nearly 68-hundred dollars—going to Greene County’s Thunderbird Fire Protection Territory.
The program started in May of 2013. In the past 12 years, WIN Energy has donated almost 800-thousand dollars to eligible non-profit groups in their service territory.
