Sunday was officially the first day of Winter.
It was also the “shortest” day of the year.
December 21st was the Winter Solstice, when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted furthest from the Sun and is getting the least amount of sunlight all year.
Winter Solstice celebrations were being held around the world on Sunday, including at Stonehenge monument in southern England.
Days in the Northern Hemisphere will now gradually get longer until the summer solstice in June.
